Our founder, Vijay Kumar, grew up in the heart of Delhi’s bustling slums. As a young orphan, there were daily struggles for basic necessities. Despite this, Vijay's curiosity was piqued by colorful tourists, inspiring him to learn English. Without formal education, he turned to discarded newspapers and old books, teaching himself to read and write. He practiced by conversing with anyone who would listen. Vijay's perseverance paid off when a compassionate tour guide recognized his potential and mentored him. Vijay's charm, knowledge and passion soon made him a favorite among tourists, leading to a job with a popular tour company. As Vijay's expertise grew, and remembering his roots, he saw an opportunity to make a difference and founded "Travel Locals in India” with the purpose of offering authentic local experiences, showcasing the real Delhi while employing people from the slums, each with their own compelling stories.
